A recent report from SPORT reveals that Fran Garcia contemplated leaving Real Madrid during the January transfer window.
The Spanish left-back was interested in a transfer to Bournemouth, who had shown interest in him, but the club’s management decided to block any potential departure.
It’s important to note that Bournemouth made inquiries last month, hoping to capitalize on the defender’s limited playing time.
Despite the growing frustration on Garcia’s part, Real Madrid opted to prevent his move.
Garcia’s Interest in the Move
The report states that Garcia was particularly drawn to the idea of reuniting with Andoni Iraola, who previously coached him at Rayo Vallecano.
Under Iraola, Garcia experienced regular playing time and delivered some of the best performances of his career.
The prospect of working with a coach who has faith in him, along with the promise of regular minutes, made the Bournemouth opportunity appealing.

Since Alvaro Arbeloa took over, however, Garcia’s role has significantly declined.
He participated in Arbeloa’s first match against Albacete in the Copa del Rey but was substituted after just 64 minutes.
That match turned out to be a brief chance rather than a new beginning, as Garcia has not been included in any subsequent line-ups.
Evident Disappointment
Arbeloa has opted for other players, even deploying Eduardo Camavinga in the left-back position ahead of Garcia.
This situation has left Garcia relegated to the bench while academy players Jorge Cestero and David Jimenez have received more playing time than him.

For perspective, Garcia had a significantly larger presence under Xabi Alonso, starting 12 out of 34 matches and playing in a total of 17 games.
Although Garcia’s contract extends until 2027, his long-term future at the club appears uncertain.
A potential exit in the summer is possible if he formally requests to leave and the club considers opening the door.
Much could depend on whether Iraola remains at Bournemouth, as his presence could once again make the Premier League a viable option for Garcia.
