Watford’s interim head coach, Charlie Daniels, has expressed his willingness to remain in the position for the remainder of the season if offered the opportunity.
Following Javi Gracia’s resignation on Monday, Daniels took charge of the coaching team, leading the Hornets to a commendable goalless draw against a strong Hull side.
In an interview with BBC Three Counties Radio, he stated, “I believe any manager would jump at the chance to take on this role. The players are exceptionally talented for this level.”
“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in charge. This is the path I want to pursue in my career,” he added. “I’m truly grateful for this opportunity and intend to savor every moment.”
Reflecting on the match against Hull, Daniels remarked, “I’m very pleased with both the team’s performance and the players. Despite having a limited amount of time with them, their display was very encouraging.”
“They are skilled players, and if they stick to a structured game plan while being allowed the freedom to express themselves, they can exhibit what they’re truly capable of.” He noted, “The only missing element was a goal—that’s what we’ve discussed in the locker room.”
