Barcelona triumphed 2-1 over Albacete in the Copa del Rey quarter-final on Tuesday night.
Marcus Rashford missed an early opportunity to give Barcelona the lead but played a crucial role in the first goal, scored in the 39th minute.
After regaining possession, Rashford passed to Frenkie de Jong, who then found Lamine Yamal. Yamal finished smoothly with a quick shot.
Barcelona extended their advantage in the 56th minute when captain Ronald Araujo scored from Rashford’s corner, driving it past Raul Lizoain.
With this performance, Rashford has joined Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez as the third La Liga player to achieve double figures in both goals (10) and assists (10) across all competitions this season.
Lizoain made a stunning save to keep Ferran Torres from increasing Barcelona’s lead, while Jefte Betancor failed to capitalize on a great chance for the home side.
In the 87th minute, Javi Moreno scored for Albacete, heading in a free-kick to narrow the gap to 2-1.
Torres believed he had secured the win just before the final whistle with a close-range tap-in, but his effort was ruled offside.
Fran Gamez nearly leveled for Albacete during stoppage time, but Gerard Martin performed a critical goalline clearance, ensuring Barcelona’s progression to the semi-finals.
