Just a few days after returning from a previous injury that kept him out of games against Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Manchester City, Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has encountered another serious setback that is expected to keep him sidelined for the next couple of months.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Guimaraes has sustained a significant muscle injury, with reports indicating he could be out for approximately eight to ten weeks.
Newcastle and the Brazilian national team are in close communication to monitor the midfielder’s condition and recovery timeline, although he has already been ruled out for the upcoming March international break.

With a minimum recovery period of eight weeks, the earliest Guimaraes could make his return would be for the match against Crystal Palace on April 11th, while a full ten-week absence would see him doubtful for the game against Arsenal on April 25th.
During this time, the midfielder will definitely miss Newcastle’s match at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City next weekend, as well as the home game against Manchester United on March 4th, the away fixture at Chelsea on March 14th, and the Tyne-Wear derby on March 22nd.
This is a significant loss for Newcastle, as Guimaraes has made 35 appearances this season, contributing 16 goals and assists, affecting the team’s chances in these crucial matches.

In addition, Newcastle will be competing in a Champions League play-off against Qarabag in the coming week and a half. Should Newcastle advance, Guimaraes would also miss at least one leg of the quarter-finals.
Further evaluations will provide a clearer picture regarding his recovery timeline.
