Barcelona’s preparation for the crucial Copa del Rey semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid has been hindered by off-field uncertainties.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, it is unclear whether the necessary permissions to reopen the North Stand at Spotify Camp Nou will be granted in time for this high-stakes match.
Currently, the club is awaiting a 1C permit from the Barcelona City Council, which would increase the stadium’s capacity to 62,000 spectators.
Without this approval, the North Stand, also referred to as Gol Nord, will remain closed during the semi-final.
To expedite the process, Dekra, the organization authorized by the City Council to evaluate stadium safety, access points, and emergency systems, conducted another inspection of the venue this week.
However, hope within the club seems limited, with reports indicating a general pessimism about receiving the necessary green light before Atletico Madrid arrives.
Why the delay?

While there are no significant structural issues, bureaucratic and safety modifications are still under consideration.
If the permit does not arrive in time, the next feasible opportunity for reopening could be the league match against Sevilla on March 15.
To complicate matters further, the Supporters’ Stand is undergoing its own separate licensing process.
Despite these challenges, Barcelona is determined to foster a vibrant atmosphere for the match against Atletico Madrid, especially after suffering a 0-4 defeat in the first leg.
Club officials are actively seeking temporary arrangements to allow organized supporter groups to occupy different areas within the stadium.
Recognizing what is at stake, Barça understands the significance of strong home support in knockout matches.
Even if the North Stand remains closed, the goal is to replicate the intensity and enthusiasm that have historically characterized memorable nights at Camp Nou.
