Vitor Matos acknowledged that Swansea City were outclassed in their 3-0 loss to Ipswich Town, admitting they were defeated by the superior team.

The disappointing trend of Swansea’s away form persisted as Ipswich strengthened their position in the top two with a comfortable victory at Portman Road.

Anis Mehmeti opened the scoring for the home side just three minutes into the match, while Ivan Azon added a second before halftime.

Although Matos’ team showed improvement in the second half, George Hirst extinguished any hopes of a Swansea comeback 16 minutes from the end.

Championship leading scorer Zan Vipotnik, who started on the bench, came closest to finding the net for Swansea, striking the crossbar with a free-kick in stoppage time.

“Conceding a goal in the third minute obviously impacted what followed,” said Matos, Swansea’s head coach. “It’s tough to come here. Ipswich are a well-organized team with a talented squad and an excellent manager. They were simply better than us.”

“We recognized that the opening minutes were crucial, but they scored, leaving us to chase the game. We lacked aggression and intensity. When we had the ball, we failed to find the right players to initiate our attacks. Even when we did have it, we couldn’t convert that into results.”

This defeat marked Swansea’s ninth loss in their last 11 away league matches. In stark contrast, they remain unbeaten at home in their last nine league games.

They will return to the Swansea.com Stadium for their next match against Stoke City next Saturday.
