Vincenzo Italiano has refuted claims that Jens Odgaard was ‘overlooked’ at Bologna, following a stunning goal that secured their fifth straight victory against Pisa.
After a rough start to 2026, the Rossoblu have shown significant improvement, achieving a 1-0 win at the Cetilar Arena, marking their fifth consecutive victory across all competitions.

“We had a fantastic first half, with Santiago Castro creating two significant opportunities,” Italiano mentioned during his press conference.
“In the second half, fatigue set in, but we understand that everyone has carried the burden of poor results here. We still have a long road ahead, but we are proud of this win, our third consecutive in Serie A, and we’re determined to keep this momentum going.”
On Thursday, Bologna faced SK Brann in the Europa League play-off, securing their place in the Round of 16 against Italian rivals Roma.

“With the demanding schedule we have, it’s essential for every player to contribute,” Italiano added.
“Riccardo Orsolini made a positive impact after coming on, and I appreciated his effort. Federico Bernardeschi and Niccolò Cambiaghi know they can play even better, but overall, today was satisfactory.”
Despite recent speculation regarding Odgaard’s position within the team, Italiano downplayed any concerns regarding his future at Bologna.

“Odgaard demonstrated once again his ability to be impactful in that role. He understands that when he gets his chance, he needs to step up. I certainly haven’t forgotten about him; we just needed to manage his workload a bit.
“We’ll need to do something similar with Castro soon as I’m concerned about his heavy playing minutes and the potential risk of injury.”
Bologna faced two substitutions during the match, with Martin Vitik left shaken after blocking a powerful shot with his face.
“Vitik and Joao Mario both sustained knee bruises,” Italino confirmed.
