Disciplinary Committee…

Real Madrid experienced a disappointing night on Monday, suffering a 1-0 loss to Getafe. Tensions escalated toward the end of the match when Franco Mastantuono received a straight red card for showing dissent to referee Alejandro Muñíz Ruiz.

Mastantuono was heard saying “what a disgrace, what a f***ing disgrace” after a controversial decision in the dying moments of the match. As a result, he has been handed a two-match suspension by the Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee following their meeting on Wednesday (via MD).

Real Madrid had filed an appeal against Mastantuono’s red card, but it was rejected. Consequently, he will miss the upcoming La Liga matches against Celta Vigo and Elche. Additionally, defensive players Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras were both issued their fifth yellow cards during the match against Getafe, leading to one-match suspensions that were confirmed by the Disciplinary Committee on Wednesday.

The club also appealed Aurelien Tchouameni’s yellow card from the 71st minute for a foul on Mauro Arambarri; however, this appeal was also dismissed, adding to the frustration for Los Blancos officials.

Real Madrid needs to regroup quickly, as they cannot dwell on this setback. They face Celta on Friday night, followed by a home game against Elche, with a crucial Champions League Round of 16 match against Manchester City looming. Alvaro Arbeloa’s team is in urgent need of consistent performance to remain competitive in the La Liga title race against Barcelona.
