Just three days after suffering a league defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Liverpool bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Wolves in the FA Cup fifth round at Molineux on Friday.
The visitors nearly took an early lead in the sixth minute when Cody Gakpo met Ryan Gravenberch’s cross, but his header hit the post.

Shortly after, Alexis Mac Allister set up Rio Ngumoha, who skillfully maneuvered past Jackson Tchatchoua but was thwarted by Sam Johnstone’s save.
Neither team managed to create any clear scoring opportunities, and the first half ended in a stalemate.
In the 51st minute, Andy Robertson broke the deadlock, receiving a pass from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones before unleashing a powerful shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Just two minutes later, Salah doubled Liverpool’s lead, finishing at the back post after being set up by Robertson.

Shortly thereafter, Jeremie Frimpong had a chance to extend the lead after being assisted by Gakpo, but his attempt was deflected away by Johnstone.
As the match neared its conclusion, Hwang Hee-Chan managed to pull one back for Wolves, taking advantage of Johnstone’s long ball and slipping past Dominik Szoboszlai and Robertson before finding the net.
With this victory, the Reds advance to the quarterfinals of the FA Cup, with the draw for their next opponent taking place on Monday.
