Bayern Munich 4 – 1 Borussia M’gladbach FT

Bayern Munich secured a comfortable victory against a struggling Borussia Monchengladbach, even in the absence of their star striker Harry Kane.

Kane was ruled out with a calf strain on Thursday, marking his first league match missed this season, but manager Vincent Kompany reassured fans that it is “nothing serious.”

The reigning Bundesliga champions didn’t miss a beat as former Liverpool winger Luis Diaz opened the scoring with a volley, then assisted Konrad Laimer’s goal just before half-time.

Jamal Musiala expanded the lead to three after Gladbach’s Rocco Reitz was sent off for a foul on Nicolas Jackson in the box, with Musiala calmly converting the penalty.

On-loan Chelsea striker Jackson then added a fourth goal before 17-year-old Wael Mohya became Monchengladbach’s youngest ever goalscorer, finding the net with a late consolation goal.

Bayern now holds a 14-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga and has scored 92 goals this season, just nine less than their own record of 101 set in 1971.

Kane is aiming to break Robert Lewandowski’s record of 41 goals in a single Bundesliga season and has nine league matches remaining to build on his current tally of 30.

He is projected to return for Bayern’s Champions League match against Italian side Atalanta.

Meanwhile, Monchengladbach is only three points ahead of Werder Bremen, who occupy the relegation playoff spot.
