One of the Struggling Old…

We reached out to Celtic fans to gather their thoughts on the penalty shoot-out victory against Rangers in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals. Here are some of your responses:

Patrick: Ultimately, the result is what counts in these matches. Hopefully, we can use this win to gain some momentum. The incidents at the end were disgraceful and harmful to the sport—it’s not the kind of excitement we need.

Larry: Celtic is still in the running for both the league and cup double. They managed to beat Rangers without conceding. The defense looks much stronger with Sinisalo, Auston Trusty, Ben Arthur, and Kieran Tierney in the lineup. This solid defense is crucial for winning the league; goals conceded and losses have been our downfall this season. When it comes to goals scored, we’re on par with other title contenders.

Den: The return of Tierney and Callum McGregor will provide a significant boost as we approach the final stretch. Benjamin Nygren isn’t exactly a midfielder—he’s more of a ‘ghost’ goalscorer who should roam freely. If we secure the league and cup double, it will be hard-earned and well-deserved.

Stephen: Today, Rangers played well and could have won, but Celtic showed resilience and executed their penalties flawlessly. Hopefully, this victory gives the players the confidence they need to push forward in the league. This season hasn’t been pretty, but we’re still in the fight, and with fewer matches ahead, I’m optimistic that our performances will improve.

Hugh: In terms of quality, this must rank as one of the most lackluster Old Firm matches ever. They could have played until next Sunday and still not scored a goal. We defended well and appeared solid, but our midfield was weak, lacking creativity and failing to support the forwards, who were often absent during the game.

While I’m glad we came through in the end, there’s a significant overhaul needed for this squad—they have very little to give right now! The board needs to answer for why we’ve regressed so quickly over the last 18 months.

Tom: With four away games in ten days and six guaranteed starters missing, let’s not kid ourselves—some players currently in the team wouldn’t even make the bench. The board has let us down badly, but there’s one person who could have salvaged results in these last four away matches. He’s the one getting every bit of determination out of this Celtic team, and I believe this will be the most remarkable league and cup double ever. Hats off to Martin O’Neill.
