In February, Arsenal’s Charles Sagoe Jr. departed from north London, securing a one-year loan deal with Swedish club Kalmar FF that extends until January 2027.
The 21-year-old winger stated that he was looking for “a fresh start and an opportunity to showcase his abilities,” believing that Kalmar was the ideal environment for his development into first-team football.
Sagoe Jr. made a fantastic debut, scoring a goal and assisting another in a 2-1 victory against Varnamo. He continued this momentum into his second match, where he won a penalty during his home debut against Orgryte.

During the match, the penalty was crucial for Kalmar as they were trailing 2-0. Sagoe Jr. capitalized on an opportunity in the 67th minute, getting a touch on the ball before being fouled.

Unfortunately, Marius Soderback missed the resulting penalty; however, Kalmar managed to come back and ended the game with a 2-2 draw.
With a goal, an assist, and a penalty drawn, Sagoe Jr. has made quite the impression in his first two appearances. The unfortunate aspect is that he must now wait nearly a month for his next competitive match.

Saturday’s match marked the conclusion of the Swedish Cup group stage, and Kalmar’s draw was sufficient for them to secure second place in their group.
Even a win would not have advanced them, as they had earlier lost to Mjallby AIF, who finished top of the group with three victories.

Consequently, Kalmar’s campaign in the Swedish Cup has ended, with only the group leader moving forward to the next round.
With no upcoming cup matches, Kalmar’s next competitive game will be in the Allsvenskan, Sweden’s top league, as they face Vasteras on April 5th.
On a positive note, Sagoe Jr. has certainly made a strong impression that enhances his chances for inclusion in Kalmar’s league lineup.
