Following Aberdeen’s decision to approach St Mirren’s Stephen Robinson regarding the managerial position, we sought your opinions on the matter.
Here’s what some of you had to say:
Mike: While I can’t deny Robinson’s success at St Mirren (though it has waned recently), this all feels a bit rushed. If he was the top choice, shouldn’t this have been sorted out three months ago?

Andrew: We could have secured Robinson immediately after Jimmy Thelin was dismissed. The entire process has been chaotic. He brings passion to the sidelines and won’t tolerate lazy players, which may be exactly what we need.
Stefan: It’s been two months since Thelin was let go, and now we’re considering Robinson—who knows how many candidates we’ve gone through. It seems like Lutz Pfannenstiel’s strategy and shortlist have been discarded, with Dave Cormack panicking as we edge closer to relegation. The club appears completely lost, both on and off the pitch. The players abandoned Thelin, and now the board is doing the same to the supporters.
Larry: This feels like a hasty decision by the board, which is understandable given our current league standing. However, I believe the existing coaching staff should have been capable enough to keep us above the relegation zone, and we would have been better off waiting until summer—provided our initial targets were still interested. Would Thelin have performed any worse?
Anon: I’m appalled—there’s a total lack of ambition from the club. All these empty promises about what a new manager might achieve. Are we seriously looking to hire someone with only five league wins this season? His team struggles to score, relying on long-ball tactics. He’ll likely be gone by January.

Malky: Under Robinson, I expect Aberdeen to return to being a hardworking, honest team, which is the very least required. This club has been too easy to play against for too long, and he won’t allow that. Yes, he has had a rough season—similar to Thelin, who did win a trophy but had atrocious league results. Perhaps with our resources and facilities, he can revitalize Aberdeen, especially with Darren Mowbray’s return for improved recruitment. He understands the league, will give his all, and ensure the players do the same.
