Hull City’s match-winner, Lewis Koumas, emphasized the significance of bouncing back after facing consecutive defeats against promotion contenders Ipswich and Millwall.
The 20-year-old Liverpool loanee netted the decisive goal in the Tigers’ 2-1 victory against Wrexham, who currently sit sixth in the league.

Hull stands fifth in the standings, maintaining a nine-point lead over seventh place and trailing second-placed Middlesbrough by six points ahead of Boro’s upcoming match against Charlton.
“We really needed that,” Koumas shared with BBC Radio Humberside. “I believed we should have clinched the win against Millwall since we created numerous chances, but that’s just football; that’s the Championship. Now, we’ve bounced back.”
“Everyone in the dressing room is aware of each other’s capabilities and what we can contribute as a team.”
Koumas has now scored three goals in ten appearances since his loan move in the January transfer window.

“It feels fantastic to have an impact on a game, and being able to do it multiple times is an amazing feeling when it helps the team secure three points,” he added.
“I’m really enjoying my time here and my development. I’m not too concerned about whether I start or come off the bench; I just want to do my best for Hull City.”
The former Liverpool academy product previously spent the 2024-2025 season on loan at Stoke and started this campaign at Birmingham.
“Being happy in your environment significantly boosts your performance. I strive to give my all for those supporting us, and I’m committed to working hard, including in defensive duties,” he commented.

“Finding happiness in your surroundings and with the people around you greatly influences your confidence.”
Following their recent setbacks against promotion rivals, Hull City’s next three matches are against teams currently in the bottom three: West Brom, Sheffield Wednesday, and Oxford United.
“We won’t approach any game differently,” Koumas asserted. “We’re entering every match with the same mentality—to win and put in the effort.”
