Fabregas Claims Man…

Cesc Fabregas held his press conference ahead of Sunday’s important Serie A match against Roma, displaying his typical thoughtful and open demeanor. He discussed tactical philosophy, squad selection, and the impressive position his team finds themselves in with just ten games left in the season.

Como currently sits in fourth place in Serie A, a fact that is significant to everyone—except, seemingly, Fabregas himself.

When questioned about his team’s potential Champions League spot, his response was notably grounded, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb.

“If we achieve that, fantastic; if not, we continue to develop. I would be frustrated if my players were focused on the Champions League at this moment. It’s simply not the right time. If it doesn’t happen, does that make us failures?”

Fabregas: ‘Roma has Improved More than Anyone in January’

Regarding Roma, Fabregas expressed respect but also confidence.

“They had an exceptional transfer window and have elevated their level more than any other team. We need to deliver the perfect performance,” he noted.

“Just like when we won against Napoli or Juventus. We must play our game, and then the pitch will reveal the outcome.”

He downplayed the notion that this match was a must-win, simply referring to it as “another important game” rather than a pivotal encounter.

From a tactical perspective, Fabregas shared insightful thoughts on the development of Nico Paz.

When asked about potentially using the Argentine in a deeper midfield role, the Como coach was clear.

“Not at this stage. He’s a trequartista, with natural instincts. In a deeper role, one must possess a specific understanding of the game and how to analyze situations. Nico isn’t there yet. He isn’t Perrone or Baturina.”

Fabregas was equally straightforward about the possibility of Sergi Roberto stepping in for the injured Perrone, referencing an unexpected benchmark to illustrate his point.

“Do you think Guardiola’s Manchester City always build from the back? They don’t. Sometimes your opponents press, and at times you lack a Busquets or a Piqué. When a coach lacks confidence in their initial phase, you have to work hard to build that trust.”

Perrone trained individually and is anticipated to rejoin the squad on Saturday, with his availability for Sunday still pending confirmation.
