Rosenior Compares…

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has come to the defense of vice-captain Enzo Fernandez following his intense reaction to a mistake made by goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen during the match against Paris St-Germain.

Fernandez, who netted Chelsea’s second goal in the game, was observed chastising Jorgensen and throwing the ball in his direction after a wayward pass from the keeper contributed to Vitinha’s third goal.

Ultimately, Chelsea suffered a 5-2 defeat at the Parc des Princes, placing them in a challenging position ahead of the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

When asked about the incident after reviewing the footage, Rosenior stated, “As a passionate player, Enzo wants to win. Roy Keane likely reacted in similar ways.” He continued, “Roy Keane was my manager, and as a player, he probably did that 20 times a game. I want our team to foster a culture of accountability where we can hold each other to high standards in the moment.”

Rosenior added, “Enzo cares deeply for Filip and truly wants the best for him. In that moment, he was just expressing his frustration, which is completely normal, isn’t it?”

He further remarked, “In today’s social media environment, even the smallest incident can become magnified based on the attention it receives. The reality is not as dramatic as it’s made out to be. They are great friends and spoke about the situation as soon as they returned to the dressing room.”

Chelsea will next host Newcastle at Stamford Bridge this Saturday in their Premier League match.
