Tare: Milan Aware Season…

AC Milan’s director Igli Tare has downplayed speculation regarding Fiorentina striker Moise Kean, expressed optimism about Luka Modric extending his contract, and cautioned that “the season is full of surprises,” suggesting a win against Lazio could reignite the Scudetto race.

The match is set to begin at the Stadio Olimpico at 19:45 GMT (20:45 CET).

Recent reports have linked Milan with a future move for Moise Kean in an effort to strengthen their attack, potentially reuniting the striker with former Juventus coach Max Allegri.

“There’s no point in discussing this now; it’s a topic for a few months down the line,” Tare replied to DAZN Italia when questioned about Kean.

“It’s crucial that we secure a win tonight, not only for the standings but also to build momentum after the derby, so we’ll have ample time to discuss other matters later.”

The Rossoneri have a significant chance to shake up the Scudetto race, especially after their recent Derby della Madonnina victory and having seen league leaders Inter held to a 1-1 draw by Atalanta yesterday.

A victory could narrow the gap at the top of the table to just five points with nine matches remaining.

“We need to concentrate on our performance and aim for a win. While the gap is still substantial, a win tonight could make it narrower. We must take it one match at a time, as the season is unpredictable,” Tare remarked.

Milan suffered defeat here in December during the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, losing to a header from Mattia Zaccagni from a Nuno Tavares corner.

As a former player and director at Lazio, Tare is familiar with the atmosphere at the Stadio Olimpico and noted that the local ultras have ended their boycott, returning to the stands tonight.

“We discussed this early in the week, and we prefer to play in a full stadium because that’s part of the joy of football. Lazio may be going through a challenging phase, but they are still capable of winning against any opponent,” he emphasized.

“We acknowledge this and are determined to secure victory tonight.”

With Adrien Rabiot suspended and Matteo Gabbia, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Santiago Gimenez injured, Ardon Jashari will join Luka Modric in midfield.

The Croatian has rejuvenated his career at Milan, raising questions about a potential contract extension until 2027.

“One thing is clear: Luka loves Milan, and Milan loves Luka. As we mentioned at the start of the season, there’s an option to extend, but the final decision rests with him. He will have the time to make his choice, and he genuinely enjoys being with us,” Tare concluded.
