Saudi Arabia worries about…

Barcelona is looking to recruit a new striker this summer to find a successor to Robert Lewandowski, whose contract is set to expire, presumably leading to his departure from Spotify Camp Nou. The club has identified several potential candidates in recent months, one of whom is Serhou Guirassy from Borussia Dortmund.

Earlier this season, reports indicated that Barcelona can secure Guirassy for €50 million, a reasonable price considering he has netted 56 goals in 89 appearances for Dortmund since joining from Stuttgart in 2024. Although he’s not at the top of Barcelona’s striker wish list, he is significant enough to catch the attention of Saudi clubs pursuing him.

According to Alyaum (via Sport), Al-Ittihad has shown interest in Guirassy but is wary of Barcelona’s pursuit. While the 30-year-old would be open to a transfer to Saudi Arabia, a call from the La Liga leaders would take precedence for him.

Barcelona’s Priority: Julian Alvarez

The silver lining for Al-Ittihad is that Julian Alvarez remains Barcelona’s top target for a striker this summer. If the club can restore La Liga’s 1:1 financial rule before the season concludes, they are likely to pursue the Atletico Madrid forward, who could come with a price tag exceeding €100 million.

However, there are no assurances that Barcelona will be able to make such a significant investment in a new striker, as they also need to strengthen their center-back and left-wing positions. This circumstance could force them to consider more budget-friendly options, which could work in Al-Ittihad’s favor, as Guirassy may be deemed too pricey.

Ultimately, it remains uncertain who Barcelona will target this summer, but it would be surprising if Guirassy emerged as a definitive option.
