Celtic Must Be Perfect to…

Chris Sutton believes Celtic must perform perfectly in their upcoming league matches to stand a chance of clinching the Premiership title, though the former striker lacks confidence in his old team’s ability to do so.

Following their defeat to Dundee United on Sunday, Celtic has now suffered eight league losses this season and sits five points behind leaders Hearts, with seven fixtures remaining.

Sutton, a former Celtic forward, suggests that Martin O’Neill’s squad cannot afford to lose any more points. However, he expresses skepticism about a team that he feels is “desperately lacking in creativity.”

“The issues that plagued them in this latest defeat are reflective of their season overall,” Sutton noted regarding his former club.

During his segment on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club, he remarked: “Compared to last season across all competitions, Celtic has dropped 60 goals. That’s a significant decline.”

“I’m not sure how they plan to find the net. Kelechi Iheanacho started against Dundee United but didn’t seem fit. January newcomer Tomas Cvancara has been unwell and has struggled with consistency in the lineup.”

“Junior Adamu, another loan signing, appears to be further down the pecking order under Martin. It’s become a bit of a lottery each week.”

“Celtic is lacking in every area. It’s not surprising, and I sincerely doubt they can win the league—I’ve consistently felt this way. These results were to be expected.”
