Deniz Undav emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive goal late in the match as Germany narrowly defeated Ghana in a friendly encounter in Stuttgart.

Introducing three substitutes at halftime, Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann saw Undav take advantage of a clever pass from Leroy Sane, sliding the ball past Ghana’s goalkeeper Benjamin Asare in the 88th minute.

In his first appearance for Germany since June 2025, the Stuttgart striker, who previously played for Brighton, has tallied 18 goals in the Bundesliga this season, ranking just behind Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.

Ghana, the four-time Africa Cup of Nations champions, faced an uphill battle early on, with Germany hitting the woodwork through a Florian Wirtz free-kick in the opening minutes.

Germany finally broke the deadlock just before halftime, awarded a penalty after a handball by Jonas Adjetey from an Angelo Stiller cross. Kai Havertz confidently converted the penalty, sending Asare the wrong way.

Germany again struck the woodwork shortly after the break as Nick Woltemade’s header rattled the crossbar. However, Ghana equalized in the 70th minute with a goal from Leicester City winger Abdul Fatawu.

Undav’s late goal secured the victory for Germany, marking their second consecutive win following a thrilling 4-3 triumph over Switzerland. Meanwhile, Ghana continued to struggle, adding to their woes after a 5-1 loss to Austria.
