Kieran Trippier will depart Newcastle upon the conclusion of his contract at the season’s end.
The 35-year-old ex-England international joined from Atletico Madrid in January 2022 and has played a pivotal role in the club’s development under Eddie Howe.
The right-back has made over 150 appearances for the Magpies and celebrated lifting the Carabao Cup alongside team captain Bruno Guimaraes, marking Newcastle’s first domestic trophy in 70 years last season.
“The time has come for me to say goodbye to this wonderful club after four-and-a-half years,” Trippier expressed in an interview on Newcastle’s website. “This place has felt like home to me. It’s emotional, and I will genuinely miss it.”
“I want to extend a huge thank you to the supporters for their unwavering support through both the highs and lows. You’ve always stood behind me.”
“To my teammates, this farewell is going to be emotional. It has been an incredible journey alongside you all. I will miss every one of you, but winning a trophy together was particularly special – the highlight of my career.”
“I also want to express my gratitude to manager Eddie Howe, the coaching staff, and everyone behind the scenes. The gaffer trusted me twice when he signed me and gave me the chance to represent and captain this illustrious club, culminating in a trophy win.”
“I’m genuinely going to miss everyone at the club. Thank you all.”

Trippier joined Newcastle during a relegation battle but played a key role in helping the club qualify for the Champions League in two of the following three seasons, along with clinching the Carabao Cup against Liverpool in the 2025 final.
Having announced his retirement from international duties in August 2024 after representing England in several major tournaments, Trippier has experienced reduced playing time this season due to injuries and Tino Livramento’s strong form.
His manager, Howe, commented: “Kieran has been exceptional for us both on and off the field. From the moment he joined, he has helped elevate the standards that have altered the club’s path.”
“His performances have consistently reached the highest level. While we prepare to bid farewell to Kieran, we recognize there is still much at stake this season, and I know a player of his caliber will give everything to ensure his departure is on a high note.”
