Nothing Was Decided Today

Oxford United manager Matt Bloomfield expressed his “terrible disappointment” after the team settled for a 2-2 draw against Portsmouth on Monday.

The U’s rallied from behind to take the lead against Pompey, only to allow a late equalizer, resulting in the points being split at Fratton Park.

The outcome sees Oxford move above Leicester in the standings but still linger in the bottom three, with the Foxes set to play away at Sheffield Wednesday later on Monday afternoon.

“We worked incredibly hard to take the lead against tough opposition in an incredible atmosphere,” Bloomfield shared with BBC Radio Oxford. “It’s disappointing not to come away with all three points, and we need to focus on our tendency to concede late goals.”

“Nothing has been decided regarding relegation today; as the leader of this group, it’s my responsibility to lift everyone’s spirits and prepare for the upcoming match this weekend. We still have five games left, and we’ll continue to fight.”

Oxford’s next match is on Saturday, where they will host Watford at Kassam Stadium.
