Habib Beyes Unwanted…

Habib Beye’s tenure at Olympique de Marseille was never anticipated to be without challenges, and the reality has proven that to be true. The former Stade Rennais manager swiftly moved on from his dismissal at the Breton club, joining OM just days later to take over from Roberto De Zerbi, who had departed.

His arrival coincided with unrest among fans and turmoil within the club’s leadership. Beye struggled initially, failing to secure a victory in his opening two matches. However, he later rallied the team to achieve three consecutive wins, with each victory coming by a narrow margin of just one goal.

Unfortunately, OM faced a setback just before the international break with a loss to Lille OSC. They then traveled to AS Monaco, where they were defeated 2-1, leaving them level on points with their adversaries. This result saw OM drop to fourth place, with Lille now occupying a podium position.

As a consequence, Beye has recorded three losses in his first seven matches in charge of Les Phoceéns. This marks the worst start for any OM manager since 2005.
