Atletico Madrid is one step closer to the Champions League semi-finals, leading 2-0 against Barcelona in the first leg of their quarter-final matchup at Spotify Camp Nou.
Despite receiving a red card in the latter stages of the first half when Pau Cubarsi was sent off for a professional foul, Barcelona has been in control for much of the game. Julian Alvarez did score from the resulting free-kick, yet Atletico has struggled to assert dominance until recently.

Sorloth Extends Atletico’s Lead
That changed when Alexander Sorloth found the back of the net, finishing off a precise cross from Matteo Ruggeri to give Diego Simeone’s team a two-goal advantage.
This could prove to be a critical blow for Barcelona, who have faced challenges breaking down Atletico in the second half with a player down. The situation will only become more daunting in the remaining minutes and when the teams meet again next week at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
