Pereira confirmed that Chris Wood has returned to training after six months on the sidelines, expressing hope that he can contribute in the upcoming matches: “He is training with the team. My past experiences with similar injuries tell me we can’t expect him to play full matches right away, so I must manage his return carefully.”
-
The Forest manager mentioned that the break from fixtures has allowed players to heal from minor injuries. Jair Cunha is nearing full recovery, but Pereira indicated that Nicol Savona is likely out for the rest of the season.
-
Regarding the match against Porto, Pereira emphasized the need for his team to “remain focused at all times” and to adopt a “mentality to compete for every ball.”
-
Pereira, who previously managed Porto from 2011 to 2013, stated: “Tomorrow will undoubtedly create a fantastic atmosphere. I will be supporting Forest. It will be my first time in red at the stadium. We are here to showcase our abilities, and it will be a significant challenge for our passionate supporters.”
-
Discussing the challenge Porto presents, who are currently leading the Portuguese league by five points, Pereira said: “Porto is doing exceptionally well in the league and is aiming for the title. They have a strong connection with their fans. In contrast, Fenerbahce faced a more emotional situation as they weren’t winning. Porto is in a different phase and is eager for success.”
-
Expressing confidence in his squad’s rotation capabilities, he noted: “It’s essential to compete both in the league and in Europe. Porto often makes numerous changes for Europa League matches. Everyone in our squad needs to feel valued and ready to contribute. We believe that any player we choose will perform well because they are prepared. We’ll enter the match with a strong lineup and the intention of securing victory.”
