FC Metz defender Tahirys Dos Santos (19) is set to sign his first professional contract with the Ligue 1 club next week, as reported by L’Équipe.

Dos Santos bravely re-entered the building during the devastating New Year’s Eve fire at the Constellation bar in Crans-Montana to rescue his girlfriend, but he sustained burns covering 30% of his body, including his head, arms, and torso.

After weeks in the hospital, he returned to training and made his comeback last week, appearing for the Metz reserve team in a National 3 match against Balagne, just 100 days after the incident.

Highly regarded at the club for his resilience and dedication, Dos Santos aims to secure a position in the left-back spot, a role that Metz has struggled to fill since the departure of home-grown talent and former captain Matthieu Udol, who transferred to RC Lens last summer.

His recovery provides a rare positive note in a challenging season for the club, which currently sits at the bottom of the league and faces relegation. There is hope within the club that he might be able to contribute in Metz’s final home match of the season in May.
