Plymouth Argyle’s central midfield receives a much-needed boost with the news that both Brendan Wiredu and Bradley Ibrahim are fit to face AFC Wimbledon this Saturday.
Recently, Argyle had to bring back young talent Caleb Roberts from his loan at Truro City, while Jamie Paterson shifted into midfield to partner the ever-reliable Malachi Boateng.
Earlier this month, the situation worsened when it was announced that Herbie Kane would be unavailable for the rest of the season.
However, both Ibrahim, who has been recovering from an ankle injury since February, and Wiredu, who returned after a month out following abdominal surgery, are poised to make their comeback on Saturday.
Head coach Tom Cleverley expressed optimism in an interview with BBC Radio Devon, stating, “We now have a much stronger selection of players compared to last week.” He added, “We can certainly rest a bit easier knowing we have more depth in the central midfield, which is essential for us. Jamie Paterson has performed exceptionally well in that role, but having specialists back is a significant advantage.”
