Barcelona star unwilling…

As the summer transfer window approaches, Barcelona aims to secure a permanent deal for Joao Cancelo. While the club is facing challenges in securing Marcus Rashford, Cancelo’s transfer is expected to be more straightforward due to his lower market value.

Reports indicate that the Portuguese international wants to stay at Barcelona and is willing to accept a pay cut to facilitate his permanent transfer to Catalonia.

Hansi Flick’s Support for Cancelo

A recent report from Diario SPORT reveals that Hansi Flick is impressed with Cancelo’s performances and is advocating for his extension at the club beyond the current season.

Although Cancelo is known for his versatility, he has primarily played as a left-back, starting eleven matches and coming off the bench in four others in that position. He only played on the right side during a Copa del Rey match against Albacete.

Notably, the return of Alejandro Balde from injury has not changed his status in Flick’s strategy, as Cancelo has retained his starting role in the Champions League over the Barcelona-native.

He has also been favored in critical moments, including late appearances in the La Liga derby against Espanyol and the Copa del Rey match against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano.

On a personal note, Cancelo has made it clear that he does not wish to return to Al Hilal, where he is contracted until 2027.

Both the player and Barcelona seem committed to finding a resolution that allows him to remain at the Nou Camp, with a three-party agreement involving Barcelona, Cancelo, and Al Hilal appearing to be a viable option.
