  • Emilio Lawrence from Man City expressed his willingness to return to Luton Town for the next season.

  • Since January 2026, Lawrence has been on loan to the Hatters.

  • Luton manager Jack Wilshere praised the winger’s contribution in the offensive zone.

Manchester City’s Emilio Lawrence has indicated a desire to return to Luton Town for the upcoming 2026/27 season as his current loan draws to a close.

Lawrence, who came through the youth ranks at Everton, joined Manchester City in 2022 and subsequently completed his loan transfer to Luton Town in January, marking his first stint in senior football.

Although the 20-year-old headed to Luton before making a mark with Manchester City’s first team or debuting at the Etihad Stadium, Lawrence stated he would be “more than happy to return” to Kenilworth Road next season.

How has Emilio Lawrence performed at Luton Town?

Lawrence made his senior debut for Luton in a 2-1 victory over Stevenage in League One on January 10, followed by scoring his first senior goal against Stockport County at Kenilworth Road in March.

His recent performances have garnered attention, notably scoring the equalizing goal in the EFL Trophy final against Stockport, contributing to a 3-1 victory for the Hatters and securing his first career trophy.

Lawrence has started in 12 of his 13 league appearances for Luton Town, accumulating two goals and five assists in 17 matches across all competitions.

What does Emilio Lawrence say about his future?

As the new season approaches, Lawrence emphasized his focus on finishing the current campaign strongly for Luton, particularly aiming to secure promotion to the Championship through the play-offs.

The Hatters currently sit eighth in the League One table with 65 points from 43 matches, and they aim to clinch a top-six finish in the remaining three matches to qualify for the League One play-offs.

Regarding the club’s present standings, Lawrence remarked, as noted by Luton Today, “I haven’t received any updates from my agent or the club at this point.

“My primary focus is on finishing the season strongly and supporting the team in making the play-offs and getting the club back into the Championship.”

He added, “Hopefully, we can get back to Wembley for the play-offs next month, replicate our success, and then evaluate what happens over the summer.

“I’ve enjoyed my time here immensely, so I would be delighted to return.”

“Everything has happened for a reason,” says Lawrence

Lawrence faced challenges at the beginning of his time at Luton, working hard to earn his spot in manager Jack Wilshere‘s squad.

Nevertheless, he has managed to turn things around positively, stating, “I wouldn’t change my experiences. I believe everything happens for a reason.”

“It can be tough to see that at times, but even the challenges contribute to gaining experience and learning how to navigate various scenarios in your career. Ultimately, it all works out for the better, so I’m content.”

The Manchester City prospect also discussed his adaptability on the pitch during his loan at Luton, adding, “I have enjoyed playing as a left wing-back; it’s been great.

“I’m confident in my defensive abilities. Some fans may have felt uneasy seeing me in that role, but I trust my skills there.

“I’ve still managed to get forward frequently, which allows me to demonstrate my abilities in attacking situations as well.”

As Lawrence’s loan period concludes on May 31, it remains uncertain whether he will continue his journey with Luton Town in League One or the Championship next season, or return to Manchester City as his future is reassessed.
