Fishlock on Pins and…

Jess Fishlock is currently waiting for medical results regarding an injury that caused her to be carried off the field on a stretcher during a match for Seattle Reign.

A club spokesperson reported: “Initial X-rays of Jess’ ankle were negative, and she is presently undergoing further assessments and testing.”

Images of the 39-year-old former Wales midfielder captured her in visible distress, signaling for assistance as she exited the pitch during Reign’s 3-0 home loss to Utah Royals on Sunday.

In the aftermath of the match, Reign’s head coach Laura Harvey remarked, “I don’t think it looked great.”

Harvey added that Fishlock’s departure had an adverse effect on her team’s performance. “When the injury occurred, we were really on the attack and pushing hard. It took the wind out of our sails a bit… she is obviously a crucial part of our squad due to her experience and the leadership role she occupies.”

Reign recently announced that Fishlock would retire at the end of the current campaign, scheduled to conclude in November.

Fishlock had retired from international football with Wales in October 2025 and has since taken on a technical role within the staff of Wales manager Rhian Wilkinson while continuing to play for Reign.
