Scott Parker has departed from Burnley by mutual agreement following the team’s relegation from the Premier League.
The Clarets were relegated with four games remaining in the season, prompting Parker’s exit just ahead of Friday’s away match against Leeds United.
Parker guided Burnley to a historic Championship season last year, where they earned promotion with an impressive unbeaten streak of 33 matches.
However, the 45-year-old will not be part of Burnley’s upcoming campaign in the second tier after a third relegation in five seasons was confirmed following a defeat to Manchester City last week.
This season, Burnley has managed only four wins, with eight draws and 22 losses. Since November, they have achieved just one victory out of 25 matches in the Premier League.
“The club would like to extend its sincere gratitude to Scott for his professionalism, dedication, and contributions,” read a statement from Burnley. “He departs with the respect and appreciation from everyone associated with Burnley Football Club.”

“Mike Jackson, along with the current backroom staff, will take temporary charge for the remaining four Premier League matches, starting with Friday’s game against Leeds United. The search for a new permanent head coach ahead of the 2026/27 season has already begun.”
At the time of Parker’s departure, Burnley was sitting at the bottom of the table, having not won a league match since February and failing to secure a victory at Turf Moor for six months. Their current 13-game winless streak at home marks one of the worst in the club’s history within the division.
Steven Gerrard is reportedly a potential candidate for Burnley, as The Independent noted last week that the Liverpool legend is open to a Championship position. He has been without a role since leaving Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League in 2025.

In addition, Crystal Palace has added Coventry City’s Frank Lampard and Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna to a list of at least six managers being considered to succeed Oliver Glasner, as they have already initiated conversations with potential candidates.
