Igli Tare, the Director of Sport, acknowledged that “the right attention has been lacking” at Milan in recent weeks, which has led to discussions about a potential training retreat before their match against Genoa.
Fan sentiment has shifted from anger to intense frustration, particularly evident during their recent 3-2 loss to Atalanta, where many supporters left the stadium after just 52 minutes. Additionally, Rafael Leao faced jeers from frustrated fans again.
It was a memorable night for La Dea as they raced to a 3-0 lead by the 51st minute, thanks to goals from Ederson, Davide Zappacosta, and Giacomo Raspadori.
The Rossoneri attempted a comeback with a header from Strahinja Pavlovic and a penalty from Christopher Nkunku, but by the time they scored, many fans in the Curva Sud had already exited the stadium.

“In light of our recent performances, it is clear that there has been a lack of focus. We cannot deny this; we all share the responsibility,” Tare shared with DAZN Italia.
“The fans deserve a better performance, but we can still control our destiny. We will focus on the strong finish we had in the last half-hour of the match, reflect on the events of the past six or seven weeks, and concentrate on achieving our crucial goals.
“We performed well for ten months; it’s only during this last month and a half that we have faltered.”

Tare and manager Massimiliano Allegri, having only been with the club for a year, are already facing speculation about their potential dismissal while alternative candidates are considered.
“Honestly, I haven’t received any indications from the club regarding my position. My focus is solely on my work; achieving our goals from the beginning of the season is what matters. Speculation and pressure come with the territory, and I am trained to handle it.”
“What’s crucial now is maintaining the right mentality for our remaining two matches.”

The evening began with a tense atmosphere marked by protests against CEO Giorgio Furlani, with banners and chants criticizing everyone from team owner Gerry Cardinale to the players.
“The fans have every right to express their opinions and protest. I believe it’s a psychological issue within the team, which has lost some composure since falling out of the title race. This has affected our performance,” Tare stated.
“It’s vital now to maintain calm, accept criticism, and react positively to regroup and work towards our goals. Success in our next matches will set the stage for the future.”

Tare admitted that a training retreat may be necessary before their upcoming match against Genoa, a significant decision that speaks volumes about the current struggles within the club.
“The coach and I addressed the players directly, reminding them that external noise must be set aside. We have witnessed positive leadership reactions within the team,” he stated.
“We might all go into a training retreat a few days before the match to foster team cohesion and thoroughly assess our situation.”
