Jim Goodwin, manager of Dundee United: “One of the key takeaways from tonight is that we’ve secured seventh place. Ideally, we would have achieved this earlier, especially given our strong performance against Dundee in our first match after the split.

“Everything looked promising, and it seemed we were on a solid run, but we unfortunately fell short in our next matches against Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.

“I’m pleased we managed to keep a clean sheet tonight, even though we made it difficult for ourselves at times. We were a bit fortunate in the first half, particularly when Livingston hit the post.

“I can’t argue too much with the final result. A draw feels fair; either team could have edged it. However, the clean sheet is a positive, especially after our recent performances where we conceded too many avoidable goals.

“We also got valuable minutes for some of our younger players. Seventh place was the goal after the split, but we won’t be celebrating it, as it falls short of our ambitions for the season.

“We have a clearer understanding of what we need to address over the summer. We identify the areas in need of improvement and aim to be more competitive for the top six next time.

“We’ve made some good strides already, and I believe we’re ahead of schedule with some pre-contract agreements in place. We’re in talks with several talented players.

“Contract negotiations will continue, and we still need to have conversations with some current squad members.

“This will be the last match at Tannadice for several players on the team, which is disappointing. I wish we could have provided our supporters with more to celebrate.”
