Everton Will Forever Be…

Captain of Everton, Seamus Coleman has declared that he will conclude his playing career with the club when his contract expires next month.

Coleman, who made his move to the Toffees from Sligo Rovers in January 2009 for a mere £60,000, has set the club record for the most Premier League appearances at 372 and has served as captain in 140 matches.

“After over 17 years with this remarkable football club, I have decided that this will be my final season as a player here,” Coleman remarked.

“I want to express my gratitude to the fans for their incredible support. You’ve helped me in ways I can’t fully describe. I’ve always strived to prioritize Everton Football Club, and you all hold a special place in my heart.”

“Living in the city, I see you every day, and I’ve taken your passion for the club back to the dressing room to convey to the players how much Everton truly means to the community.”

While his playing career with the club is drawing to a close, Coleman has the option to remain in a coaching role if he chooses or pursue his playing career elsewhere, including with the Republic of Ireland.

“After making such a significant decision, I want to take some time this summer to consider my next steps for myself and my family. My affection for Everton is well-known, and I also have a great love for Ireland,” he explained.

“The club has been fantastic to me, offering an opportunity to continue here.”

“This will always be my club. Thank you for having me as a part of it for over 17 years.”
