Barcelona Reach Out to…

This summer, Barcelona is actively seeking to bring in a new left winger, especially as the expectation of securing Marcus Rashford on a permanent basis seems less likely. In recent weeks, several targets have emerged, including the latest name added to the list: Alberto Moleiro.

Moleiro has been on Barcelona’s radar for several years. They previously attempted to sign him when he was still at Las Palmas and have continued to monitor his development since he joined Villarreal last summer. In his debut season, the 22-year-old has impressed at La Ceramica, netting 10 goals and providing five assists.

According to Sport, Barcelona has recently engaged with Moleiro’s agent to assess the possibility of a move, either this summer or in the future. The Catalan club sees him as a player with significant potential for growth, and a transfer could be pursued sooner rather than later as they aim to address their need for a left winger.

The report highlights that Moleiro is an ardent Barcelona supporter, having expressed his wish to don the Blaugrana jersey in the future. While Villarreal is aware of this interest, they are reluctant to offload one of their standout performers for the 2025-26 season.

Villarreal Has Agreement with Moleiro for Barcelona

Due to this situation, Villarreal would reference Moleiro’s €50 million release clause if other clubs approach for him this summer. However, Barcelona could be treated differently, as Villarreal has reportedly reached an understanding with the player that a deal could be negotiated for a lower fee if the Catalans express concrete interest.

It remains to be seen if Barcelona will pursue Moleiro this summer; however, with their priorities focusing on securing a centre-back and a striker first, any potential deal might be postponed until at least 2027.
