Haaland: City ought to be…

Erling Haaland has called on Manchester City to channel the disappointment of missing out on the Premier League title for a second consecutive year into their quest for next season’s championship.

Arsenal clinched the championship for the first time since 2004 after City drew 1-1 against Bournemouth on Tuesday night, securing their place at the top.

Haaland scored a last-minute equalizer at Vitality Stadium, bringing his team back level after Junior Kroupi had put the home side in front, although Pep Guardiola’s team couldn’t find a late winner to keep their title hopes alive until the final matchday.

“Each match in the Premier League is tough; we gave it our all, but it wasn’t sufficient,” Haaland commented in an interview with City Studios.

“The entire club should view this as motivation moving forward. We should feel a burning anger inside because this is unacceptable. Two years have gone by, and it feels endless.”

“We’ll do everything in our power next season to secure the league title,” he vowed.

City’s visit to the south coast came just three days after their 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup final, amid rumors that manager Guardiola may step down after Sunday’s match against Aston Villa.

While Guardiola has a year left on his contract, he offered little insight regarding his future at the post-match press conference.

After struggling last season without a major trophy, City will conclude this campaign with two titles, including the Carabao Cup.

“Everything is relative; we performed better than last season,” Haaland stated.

“I believed we could still push harder in the league, but it’s over now.”

“Winning two trophies is significant, but we also wanted the Premier League,” he added.

Bournemouth wasted numerous opportunities to secure the win before Haaland scored his 27th league goal this season.

“It’s never simple to come here, especially after a cup final against such a strong team,” noted the Norwegian striker.

“Finals are always more intense; the emotional stakes are higher, making it tougher because you tend to give it your all.”

“The calendar is demanding. There are no justifications. Yet, coming to Bournemouth right after playing at Wembley is never easy.”
