Nuno Espírito Santo’s future with West Ham is uncertain, as Scott Parker and Gary O’Neil are reportedly being considered as potential replacements following the club’s relegation to the Championship, according to ESPN sources.
On Monday, Nuno discussed his future with West Ham’s leadership after the team confirmed its relegation on Sunday.
Both Nuno and the club have release clauses in his contract due to the relegation, allowing either party to terminate the agreement without compensation.
Having signed a three-year contract in September as head coach, Nuno’s time with West Ham could end after only 33 matches in the Premier League.
The team finished 18th, unable to avert relegation.
When questioned about his future following the relegation confirmation, he remarked, “It’s not about me. We’re in a difficult position, and West Ham needs to return to the Premier League.
“For now, we must cope with this period of sorrow and recognize the frustration and anger from our fans.”

He added, “You keep asking about that, but my focus isn’t there. Today or tomorrow, if we have a press conference, we can discuss it then. Right now, it’s about grappling with how challenging this situation is.”
Should Nuno depart from West Ham, ESPN sources indicate that Scott Parker, former manager of Fulham and Burnley, is a leading candidate for the role.
Other potential candidates include O’Neil from Strasbourg and Craig Bellamy from Wales, but Parker currently stands as the frontrunner.
Parker has a strong connection to West Ham, having played four seasons with the club from 2007 to 2011.
During his managerial career, he has led teams such as Fulham (2019-2021), Bournemouth (2021-22), Club Brugge (2022-23), and Burnley.
Parker achieved promotion for Burnley to the Premier League in the 2024-25 season, although he couldn’t maintain their status in the league.
He departed Burnley four weeks ago by mutual agreement following their relegation from the Premier League.
