Milan and Allegri Battle…

A legal dispute is unfolding between AC Milan and former head coach Max Allegri, as the club believes he had a pre-existing agreement with Napoli and therefore is not entitled to a severance package.

The club issued a single statement to terminate Allegri’s contract, involving director of sport Igli Tare, CEO Giorgio Furlani, and technical director Geoffrey Moncada, just one day after failing to secure a Champions League spot.

Hours later, Allegri was reportedly associated with the vacant coaching position at Napoli, following Antonio Conte’s mutual departure.

Despite Allegri seemingly being on the verge of joining Napoli, any official announcement might take weeks, as legal issues are surfacing.

According to reports from Calciomercato and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Allegri is seeking between €500,000 and €1 million to agree on an early termination of his contract with Milan, which still holds a value of €5.5 million for one more year.

The contract Allegri aims to sign with Napoli will see his salary reduced to €4.5 million, supplemented by performance-related bonuses linked to Champions League and Scudetto goals.

Allegri claims that Milan has a clause to cover the salary difference between his existing contract and the new deal.

Milan, however, appears unwilling to compensate Allegri following his release, arguing that he had already agreed to terms with Napoli prior to his dismissal and before the defeat to Cagliari.

No developments are expected until at least June 3, and even then, the situation may take time to resolve.
