We sought your opinions on James Milner‘s time at Amex Stadium, following the 40-year-old’s announcement of his retirement from professional football on Monday.
Here are some of your responses:
David: What can I say other than he is a true professional. He added immense experience, outstanding fitness, and great influence on team cohesion. I was hoping he would extend his stay for another season to assist in our next European campaign. I sincerely hope he remains involved with the club in some way. Thank you for everything.

Nigel: A heartfelt thank you for imparting your vast experience to the players at Brighton, James Milner. You were always a thrill to watch on the pitch. Wishing you a long and fulfilling retirement.
Graham: Each time he played, he was consistently a 7 out of 10. He gave his all, showing commitment in tackles while playing hard but fair. He earned respect for his conduct, both on and off the field, and his strategic thinking led to his sustained success throughout his career. He strengthened Brighton’s midfield and contributed positively to the club’s fortunes over the past three years.
Joe: We must admire his longevity, and he is undeniably cherished by the fans of both Liverpool and Leeds, where his impact was significant. However, let’s not fool ourselves; this past season seemed more like a quest for the Premier League appearance record, mostly through brief appearances. Once that was achieved, his retirement felt imminent. While he had some decent performances, he also had his share of subpar outings.
Liam: As supporters, we often rely on insights from insiders to understand a player’s influence off the pitch. I don’t believe any other player has been praised as highly by insiders at Brighton in years. The demands of the modern Premier League are immense, making it remarkable to see James Milner compete as he did in his final season. His focus, drive, and energy were evident. His reintegration into the team coincided with a return to winning form, which surely wasn’t coincidental. Thank you, James.
