Manchester United have reached an agreement with Atalanta for the transfer of midfielder Éderson, according to sources at ESPN.
Atalanta has accepted an initial fee of £35 million ($47 million), with an additional £4 million possible in performance-related add-ons for the 26-year-old player.
Éderson is expected to sign a contract that will run until 2030, with the option for an additional year.
This transfer will mark United’s first signing of the summer and the first since Michael Carrick was appointed as permanent head coach.
According to ESPN sources, United has been monitoring Éderson for some time and acted swiftly after a potential transfer to Atlético Madrid fell through.
During his four years at Atalanta, the Brazilian has made 180 appearances and earned three caps for his national team. The deal will be finalized once he completes his medical examination.
With Éderson’s transfer now secured, United plans to intensify their pursuit of West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes.
ESPN sources indicate that United has already reached out to West Ham regarding a potential transfer for the 21-year-old, who is likely to depart the London Stadium following their relegation to the Championship.

Moreover, United is looking to strengthen their squad with the addition of a left-back amid concerns over Luke Shaw’s ability to manage a demanding schedule of three games per week in both the Premier League and the Champions League this season.
Meanwhile, sources tell ESPN that goalkeeper Andre Onana, who was on loan at Trabzonspor last season, plans to return to Carrington for preseason training if another transfer hasn’t been finalized. The 30-year-old has been informed he is not included in United’s plans for the upcoming season.
