André Jardine, a three-time Liga MX champion, is no longer the head coach of Club América, following a successful tenure that saw him secure six titles in just three years, as announced by the team on Wednesday.
Jardine, whose contract was set to run until 2027, made a mark by winning three consecutive titles: the Apertura 2023, Clausura 2024, and Apertura 2024. In addition, he clinched the 2024 Campeón de Campeones, the Supercopa MX 2024, and the Campeones Cup, all in the same year.
The club expressed gratitude in a statement: “We can only thank you for the commitment and dedication you’ve shown to our institution, André. You have become the most successful head coach in the club’s history, and your legacy will be forever etched in our records.”
According to sources at ESPN MX, Guillermo Almada, the former manager of Pachuca and Real Oviedo, is the frontrunner to succeed Jardine as América’s head coach.
Prior to his time at Club América, Jardine was at the helm of the Brazil national team, leading them to a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He began his coaching career in Mexico with Atlético Madrid‘s affiliate, Atlético de San Luis, which he managed until after the Clausura 2023 season.
