The ex-Leicester City player believes Pep Guardiola’s departure will have no impact on his 20-year-old son’s future.
Former England striker Emile Heskey has shared that his son Jaden is drawing ‘early interest’ following a loan period with Sheffield Wednesday from Manchester City.
After dedicating 12 years to Manchester City’s youth academy, the 20-year-old made his professional debut in September of last year during a 2-0 away win against Huddersfield Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

This marked Jaden’s second appearance with the senior squad after he participated in City’s pre-season tour in the United States in 2024. He moved to Sheffield Wednesday on loan in January for the remainder of the season.
Manchester City is closely monitoring their on-loan academy star, according to an EFL Championship coach.
Jaden Heskey’s Loan Experience at Sheffield Wednesday
Heskey made his debut for Sheffield Wednesday from the bench against Portsmouth on January 17, followed by his first senior start in the following Championship match against Birmingham City, where he played the full 90 minutes.
Since his second appearance for the Owls, he has secured a regular position in manager Henrik Pedersen‘s starting lineup, participating in 19 out of 20 league matches.

Despite Heskey’s commendable performance during his time at Hillsborough, Sheffield Wednesday faced challenges this season, ending up in last place (24th) in the Championship and being relegated to EFL League One for the next season.
Emile Heskey on His Son’s Future After His Loan Period
At a World Cup Preview event hosted by Grosvenor Casinos Sheffield, Emile Heskey remarked that his son’s performances at the Owls “are likely to draw attention” this summer.
“There has been early interest in Jaden, stemming from his time at Sheffield Wednesday,” Heskey mentioned, as reported by The Sheffield Star.

“Starting 19 matches in the Championship naturally invites a certain level of interest. Although Sheffield Wednesday struggled, Jaden performed well, making this an important period in his development.”
The former Liverpool star emphasized the significance of the loan for Jaden while addressing whether Pep Guardiola’s exit from Manchester City would impact his son’s future.
“Jaden’s career path will be influenced by how we can facilitate his first-team opportunities – I don’t believe Pep Guardiola’s situation will change that,” Heskey noted.
“Jaden excelled during his time at Sheffield Wednesday, learning the paramount importance of winning matches in a competitive environment.”

“Although facing relegation posed challenges, it was vital for him to experience that level of pressure.”
Pedersen has asserted that Manchester City has been closely observing their academy star’s progress during his loan at Sheffield Wednesday.
With Enzo Maresca speculated to be Guardiola’s successor at Manchester City, changes in player roles and strategies are expected, potentially giving Heskey the opportunity to excel at his lifelong club.
However, given City’s star-studded roster, opportunities for the young midfielder may be limited, raising the possibility of a move away from City being more beneficial for his growth.
