Liverpool star snubs Euro…

Liverpool has significant work to do with their supporters in the upcoming season.

The Anfield club did not fulfill expectations, which resulted in Arne Slot being let go.

It’s a disgrace that the Reds only managed to secure qualification for the Champions League after investing over £450 million, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see yet another significant shakeup during the summer transfer window.

Liverpool must acquire multiple players this summer, but as a sell-to-buy club, they will need to offload some members of their first-team squad.

This is why several players are already rumored to be leaving, even before the summer transfer window officially opens.

Recently, there has been an update regarding one of Liverpool’s key players amidst growing interest in him.

Alisson has turned down interest from Juventus in order to remain at Liverpool.

Alisson has been frequently linked to a move to Juventus.

The Brazilian has been one of Liverpool’s more injury-prone players, having missed nearly half of the games this season.

Nevertheless, when fit, he is still a far superior goalkeeper than Giorgi Mamardashvili, and the Reds would have likely fared much worse without his contributions.

His contract was initially set to expire at the end of the 2025-26 season, but following Liverpool’s decision to activate their option to extend, he is now contracted until mid-2027, meaning Juventus would need to negotiate a fee to sign him.

While terms may have been preliminarily discussed between Alisson and the Serie A club, ESPN Brazil reported that the goalkeeper has decided to stay at Anfield for at least one more season.

“Pursued by Juventus, goalkeeper Alisson Becker has made a decision regarding his future and will remain with Liverpool,” they noted.

“According to ESPN, the Brazilian national team goalkeeper will fulfill his contract, which is valid through mid-2027, with the English club.

“Furthermore, the report indicated that Alisson’s decision to remain with the Reds is unrelated to the recent dismissal of coach Arne Slot. Discussions about his continuation at Anfield had begun prior to the coach’s departure.”

Liverpool must retain as many players as possible this summer

Last summer highlighted that a complete squad overhaul does not always yield successful results.

While this is a strategy often employed by Football Manager players, in reality, the rapport, playing style, and camaraderie among players significantly impact performance.

Given that players like Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konate are all already leaving, minimizing player departures now will facilitate a smoother transition.

While Mamardashvili may want to showcase his abilities, the impact of Alisson‘s experience and leadership would be significantly missed if he were to leave.

While Liverpool would still have Virgil van Dijk, with his age of 33, his time in the Premier League may soon come to an end, highlighting the importance of a strong leadership presence.

Alisson may be prone to injuries and could miss a significant portion of the season, but when available, he can provide crucial support to Van Dijk and assist in mentoring younger players.

Moreover, as he has just one year left on his current deal, selling him at a low price would be illogical, particularly given the need for a replacement.

Hopefully, following the appointment of Andoni Iraola as manager, Liverpool adds more players than it loses this summer.
