Andrea Gilbo is set to join Austria Wien next season, moving from league rivals St. Pölten. The 24-year-old striker has signed a contract with the club that will last until the summer of 2028.
Gilbo expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “The discussions I had with Austria Wien, their vision for the future, and the club’s structure gave me confidence. The development of the Violets over the years has been impressive, and I believe there is still a lot of potential in this team. I’m excited about the upcoming challenges in the league and the Champions League qualifiers.”
Originally from Tyrol and born in 2002, Gilbo has represented the Croatian youth national team due to her Croatian heritage. She began her football journey at SK Rum before moving to Wacker Innsbruck, where she joined the first team in 2019.
At just 19, Gilbo left Tyrol to continue her career at SK Sturm Graz, where she played for three years. In 2024, she transferred to the champions SKN St. Pölten, where she has spent the past two years.
Stefan Kenesei, the head coach, commented, “With Gilbo, we have acquired a player who brings both goal-scoring ability and creativity to the highest level. She has a natural finishing instinct and a knack for the crucial final pass, which can significantly sway the outcome of matches.”
“Moreover, Andrea’s positive, humorous, and cheerful personality will undoubtedly add energy to the team. We are thrilled to welcome her to Austria Wien.”
