Bukayo Saka mentioned that winning the Premier League with Arsenal has sparked an “even greater hunger” in him to replicate that success with England during the World Cup.

The 24-year-old featured in 31 matches as the Gunners concluded their 22-year title drought, and he is anticipated to start for the Three Lions in their Group L opener against Croatia.

“Experiencing that success makes you want to do it again,” he shared with the media.

“While it can go two ways for players, speaking for myself, I definitely feel this has heightened my desire to achieve more and enter this tournament with greater ambition.”

Saka only started 25 Premier League matches this season, as he managed his playtime while recovering from hip and Achilles injuries during the latter stages.

Despite this, he believes it has positioned him well for peak performance at the World Cup.

“I don’t wish to say anything contrary to the manager,” he continued.

“What I can say is that between Mikel [Arteta], the Arsenal medical staff, and Thomas [Tuchel] with the England medical team, they have managed my situation incredibly well since March, helping me return to the pitch and contribute to the team.”

“I’m feeling better than I have in the last few months and I’m prepared to perform. I feel significantly improved compared to March and I’m excited for what lies ahead.”

If Saka needs some downtime during the tournament, he is likely to be replaced on the right wing by his teammate Noni Madueke, whom he praised highly.

“It’s quite unique for two players in the same position to be as close as we are,” he commented on their relationship.

“I’m not sure how it happens, but it works. Noni is like my brother on and off the field. We motivate each other and communicate daily. There’s a deep mutual respect, and we both want each other to succeed. The best part is that since we play on the same team, if one of us excels, it benefits the other as well.”
