Carlisle Secure Permanent…

Carlisle United have secured the signing of goalkeeper Archie Mair on a permanent basis.

The 25-year-old Mair initially joined the Cumbrians on loan from Morecambe in January but only made one appearance in the National League, playing against Brackley in April.

After recently departing Morecambe following the conclusion of his contract, he has signed with Carlisle on a one-year deal that includes the option for an additional year.

A native of Scotland, Mair started his career at Aberdeen and also spent time at Norwich City, though he did not make any first-team appearances for either club.

He has previously worked with Carlisle manager Rob Elliot during a loan stint at Gateshead.

Mair has also had loan spells at clubs including Lincoln, Notts County, and Motherwell.

Expressing his enthusiasm, he stated on Carlisle’s website: “I’m eager to make progress. I hope the fans will see me more often in the future. I have confidence in my abilities, I remain calm under pressure, enjoy handling the ball, and take pleasure in being in possession.”

Elliot commented, “Having worked with Archie at Gateshead, I know what he can contribute. He possesses great presence, confidence, and the skill to play effectively with the ball at his feet.”
