Thomas Tuchel Addresses…

Thomas Tuchel has expressed his support for Anthony Barry’s half-time interviews with broadcasters, especially following Barry’s candid comments during the recent match against Croatia. Tuchel mentioned he would be “thrilled” if his assistant continues to be straightforward in his assessments.

Barry characterized England’s first-half performance as “complicated and confusing” during the World Cup opener in Dallas, where the teams went into halftime tied at 2-2, before England rallied for a 4-2 victory.

Tuchel appeared unbothered by Barry’s frank evaluation and noted that the 40-year-old has received mixed reactions within the England team since becoming more prominent.

“I’m delighted if he expresses himself at half-time — that means I don’t have to. Why would I stop it? It’s great if he speaks out,” he remarked.

“I haven’t heard what he said, but I know he’s been the subject of some light-hearted teasing. It probably made sense, and I hope he spoke from the heart and with his expertise because he’s an exceptional coach.”

“He has incredible quality. He’s an outstanding coach, an inspiration, and he provides me with support and motivation. It’s truly top-notch.”

Similarly, left-back Nico O’Reilly echoed Tuchel’s sentiments, noting, “Anthony Barry is very straightforward and honest, and I believe that’s the best approach.”
