Morocco Eyes Ingredients…

ATLANTA — Morocco’s head coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, has encouraged his players to believe in their potential to become the first African team to win the World Cup.

After reaching the semifinals in Qatar four years ago, Morocco secured their spot in the round of 32 with a 4-2 victory over Haiti in Atlanta on Wednesday.

As they prepare for the knockout stage, Ouahbi stated that the team possesses the “ingredients” to surpass their achievements from 2022.

“We are part of a new momentum where we actually need to believe in that title [of potential world champions],” Ouahbi asserted.

“How do we achieve this objective? We must be fully invested and show respect to all our opponents.”

“We need to be 100% committed. I have faith in our work. We have everything we need to become the best nation.”

Finishing second in Group C behind Brazil, Morocco will face either Netherlands, Japan, or Sweden in the last 32 in Monterrey on June 29.

The Netherlands showcased their prowess with a 5-1 victory over Sweden, but Ouahbi expressed confidence, stating that Morocco fears no opponent.

“I have no preference at all,” he remarked.

“We will see who we’re up against. We need to be prepared. This is the World Cup.

“We came here with ambition and the ability to compete against anyone. I’ve analyzed their games, and we will approach the next match with confidence.”
