Who was Scotlands…

Scotland suffered a 3-0 defeat to Brazil in Miami, putting their chances of progressing to the knockout stage of the World Cup in jeopardy.

Andy Burke from BBC Sport Scotland was present at Miami Stadium to evaluate the performance of each player from Scotland.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on their performances too.

Scotland’s Starting XI

Angus Gunn – Positioned poorly for the second goal but made several crucial saves that helped minimize the scoreline and kept Scotland’s World Cup hopes alive. 6

Nathan Patterson – Made some excellent tackles to neutralize danger when Vinicius Jr penetrated the area. Sought opportunities to push Scotland forward whenever possible. 7

Andy Robertson – Displayed offensive intent but lost possession close to his own penalty area, contributing to Brazil’s second goal. Substituted at halftime. 5

Jack Hendry – Lucky to escape punishment after a moment of distraction during Vinicius Jr’s disallowed goal, but aside from that brief lapse, he was composed with the ball. 7

Scott McKenna – Chosen over Grant Hanley, but a disastrous early mistake led to Vinicius Jr scoring Brazil’s first goal. 4

Kenny McLean – Solid with the ball at his feet, but was easily outmuscled by Bruno Guimaraes for Brazil’s third goal. 6

Lewis Ferguson – Once again, the standout among Scotland’s midfielders. Constantly available for passes and had a couple of solid attempts on goal. 7

John McGinn – Did not show his usual influence on the game, struggling to make an impact. 5

Scott McTominay – Similar to Morocco, was quiet for much of the match before eventually finding good positions in the box. Struggling to make his mark in this tournament. 6

Ben Gannon-Doak – Started energetically but faded as the match progressed. Missed a good opportunity towards the end of the first half. 6

Lawrence Shankland – Showed some nice link-up play but couldn’t create the scoring opportunities he typically does. 6

Scotland’s Substitutes

Kieran Tierney (46 mins) – Made two excellent crosses that set up headed chances for McTominay. Positive impact on the game. 6

Anthony Ralston (82 mins) – Came on for Patterson but didn’t have enough time to make an impact. 5

Ryan Christie (82 mins) – Substituted for Gannon-Doak but couldn’t affect the game. 5

Findlay Curtis (91 mins) – Came on for McGinn but was unable to contribute significantly. 3

Che Adams (91 mins) – Had limited minutes in place of Shankland. 3
