Moormann Signs with Well…

Motherwell has secured the signing of Austrian centre-back Martin Moormann after the 25-year-old departed from Blau-Weiß Linz following their relegation from the Austrian Bundesliga.

Moormann has signed a two-year deal, with the option for Motherwell to extend for another year.

This marks the first signing for new manager Alfred Johansson, who recognized the need for this addition in his squad.

“His quick and physical style allows him to command the area and effectively minimize chances for opposing teams,” Johansson stated on the club’s website.

“Moreover, he possesses good technical skills and is adept at managing challenging situations with the ball.”

“Martin perfectly fits the profile of the left-footed centre-back we require. Despite being just 25, he brings a wealth of experience that will benefit the team.”

Moormann joined Rapid Vienna from St. Pölten’s academy in 2018, accumulating 67 first-team appearances before moving to Blau-Weiß Linz two years ago.

During his tenure at Blau-Weiß Linz, he contributed to the club’s historic top-half finish in his first season, although they struggled the following year, finishing last in the league.

Despite remaining under contract for two more years, Moormann made 23 appearances and scored three goals but was left on the bench for eight of the final nine matches of the season.

He expressed his excitement about the move to Scotland, looking forward to joining a “group of players who achieved so much last season.”
